سُورَةُ الحِجۡرِ
Al-Hijr
"The Rock"
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
"بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم"
الر ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُبِينٍ1
"Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an."
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ3
"Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know."
مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ5
"No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter."
لَوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ7
"Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?""
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ9
"Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian."
رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ2
"Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims."
وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَعْلُومٌ4
"And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree."
وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ6
"And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad."
مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوا إِذًا مُنْظَرِينَ8
"We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved."
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الْأَوَّلِينَ10
"And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples."
